foil + wire = wifi

All things are difficult before they are easy.-Thomas Fuller

My officemate just bought an antenna (I think its an expander type) to locate and to find, and if possible, to connect to a free wi-fi signal near our office location. We're not that type of a geek, but just for the heck of it, we assembled the antenna and cut some aluminum foil and pasted it to a black cardboard. We then connected the antenna to the laptop thru usb and opened a program that can locate wi-fi signals. Just for fun, we were able to locate wi-fi signals, some encrypted and others "available". Now the good news is that we were able to use the internet for free, but for a limited period only, because of the intermittent connection. No problem, we can wait for a good signal anytime. Freebies don't just come easy.
