This one is supposed to be written on the night of December 17, 2006 or is it in the wee wee hours of 18th but because of a very heavy load (read: beer), I was not able to write it down. December 17 was nikki's 16th birthday, the very beautiful daughter of Jun D and Neneng. Nikki means victory and is also used as a japanese surname which means "two trees" in english. We watch this lovely little girl during her infancy and still remember how her parents lovingly kissed her alternately. Our barkada is the same group who brought her to the church to witness her baptism and introduced her to the christian world. We also witnessed her first step and still hears her Papa Jun shout "nakakalakad na si nikki, pakuha kayo ng isang kahong beer". We also accompanied her on her first day in school and how we harassed all those school officials just to make sure nikki would get the choices't seat in the classroom. Now the same group of guys, our tropa is celebrating nikki's 16th birthday, funny how time flies and she's now a dalagita to the eyes of binatilyos everywhere. But for her proud parents she's still the same little girl they lovingly held and cherished. Now its nikki's 16th but soon after and we all know it will happen, there will come a time that she will find a man of her own even if its a man from friendster, chicka, skype, text messaging or in school. She will have her own life too and face the realities of the world and of course leave her parents (with beatles background of "She's Leavings Home") to be with the love of her life. But one thing for sure, when that time comes, I know that she had made the right decision in life because her parents had raised her to be a bright and righteous kid. Happy birthday Nikki and to your proud parents...MABUHAY kayo for raising nikki the way we want our kids to be raised.
